Teletrade® Announces Premier Plus
Auctions
1931 Double
Eagle Sells For Record $88,480

Responding to the increasing demand for higher-value coins, Teletrade® has
announced its Premier Plus program, an ongoing series of auctions by Internet
and telephone every two months that offer certified coins with a retail value
each of $1,000 or more. |

"“Our
Premier Plus sale in mid-February included a 1931 Double Eagle, graded PCGS
MS-65, that sold for $88,480, a Teletrade record for a gold coin,” said
Ian Russell, Teletrade President.
“Our upcoming April Premier Plus
auction will include a 1927-S Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle, graded PCGS MS-63.
Collectors and dealers may not have thought of Teletrade for these kinds of
high-end coins, but we again have special bimonthly auctions for buyers and
sellers of exceptionally high-quality rare coins.”
According to
Russell, between 12,000 and 15,000 coins are purchased each month through
Teletrade’s three-times a week online and telephone auctions, as well as
special event sales. Coins range in value from under $25 to $10,000 or more.
“Coins listed in the Premier Plus sales are valued at $1,000 or
more and will be available for lot viewing at major conventions. Consignments
of high-quality coins for the next Premier Plus sale will be accepted until
March 13. The lots then will be posted online and also can be examined in
person at the Teletrade booth during the American Numismatic Association’s
National Money Show™ in Atlanta, April 7 – 9,” Russell
explained.
