Red Book Coin Values

Red Book coin values are found in the most widely used price guide available today. Originally published in 1946 by Whitman Books, A Guide Book of United States Coins: The Official Red Book of U.S. Coins, a.k.a., the Red Book, is the yearly guide that most collectors turn to first for essential information about their coins, including retail pricing. The first Red Book was written by Richard S. Yeoman and current editions are still edited by Kenneth Bressett, a colleague of Yeoman’s who has been working on every edition since 1959.

Current Red Books come with full-color photographs and detailed technical information, which help collectors discern and understand the values of their coins. The Red Book is the primary reference guide for coin collectors. Updated yearly, Red Book coin values also explain the history of certain coins as well as select records for coins sold at auction.

The Red Book is an invaluable tool for coin collectors and is still the most significant U.S. coin pricing guide in print today. At WizardCoinSupply.com, we have great prices on the Red Book as well as every other type of coin book and coin pricing guide you might need. Through the day-to-day instruments of trade and commerce, this work reveals the myriad threads of culture and hidden history that together wove a new nation. Based on years of research, the associated facts, legends and theories are presented in a conversational narrative that all audiences can read and appreciate.

In Yankee Doodle’s Pocket links everyday objects with the larger-than-life people, events, societies and upheavals that brought them into existence. The tale begins with the earliest European forays into the wilderness and ends with the 1840 dawning of America’s industrial age. In the frontier beginning, barter monies sprang from fields, forests and oceans. In the end monotonously uniform coins and printed paper spewed from urban factories born of the Industrial Revolution. Until then, America’s coins and paper currency were works of art, as beautiful in their simplicity and hand-crafted variation as their European counterparts were in sophisticated perfection. These objects reveal an America that was surprisingly cosmopolitan and commercial from the start. They helped communicate ideas, foster expansion and enable transformation.

What techniques can I use to produce a good image of this coin?

In Numismatic Photography (published by Zyrus Press), Mark Goodman teaches the reader in an easy-to-read and visually rich guidebook format on how to image quality photos of coins with your digital camera.
But the rest of the story trailed off to a few odd details. One of the boys died young, the other ran into trouble with the law. No one seemed to know more.

A lifelong coin collector, Author Leonard Augsburger was determined to uncover the rest of the story. What happened to the kids? The gold? Who buried it in the first place?

Meticulously researched, Treasure in the Cellar delves into the lives of the boys and their families, recreates the hours at the police station after the boys reported what they found, and describes months of courtroom drama as descendents of several former property owners came forward, each claiming the fortune for themselves.

According to Museum director John Coski, the purpose of the award is to “stimulate continued interest in scholarly research and serious writing about one of the most important periods in American History.”

“This may be the most colorful and adventurous story of the great Civil War era, and it is brought to life for the first time by two new authors and dedicated researchers, Wesley Millett and Gerald White. Everything is here: war, gold, illicit love, mysterious romance, and all with meticulous documentation. Rarely does a book come along that adds to the vast body of knowledge on the war. I am pleased to say that The Rebel and the Rose joins the works of authors committed to correcting long-accepted statements that are incomplete, misleading, or simply untrue. More than that, Millett and White bring to light for the first time details about events that have eluded writers since the war ended.”

In this beautifully illustrated book, Harlan J. Berk—one of America’s best-known ancient-coin dealers—takes the reader on a personal guided tour of the numismatic antiquities of Greece, Rome, the Byzantine Empire, and other parts of the ancient world.

Emperors and assassins, owls and turtles, gods and goddesses, brave heroes and villainous rogues–all of these and more await you among the 100 Greatest Ancient Coins, a personal guided tour of the numismatic antiquities of Greece, Rome, the Byzantine Empire, and other parts of the ancient world.

Each of the 100 Greatest Ancient Coins was voted into place by leading collectors, dealers, researchers, curators, and historians. Inside you’ll find prized and seldom-seen rarities—the unique and high-valued coins that collectors dream about. Berk also explores more readily available and widely popular coins: those so beautiful or with such fascinating stories that everybody wants one. The biblical Tribute Penny so famously “rendered unto Caesar” by Jesus, the silver owls of Athens and turtles of Aegina, the “Eid Mar” denarius struck by Brutus to celebrate his assassination of Julius Caesar, and dozens more are pictured in striking full color.

“100 Greatest Ancient Coins is not just a price guide or a fancy picture book,” says Whitman publisher Dennis Tucker. “It’s a time machine that takes the reader to a hundred different points in world history. And it’s a fascinating introduction to the hobby of collecting these important coins.”

The book is coffee-table-size, 144 pages, full color, with outstanding photographs and engaging stories for every coin. Retail price is $29.95.

The development of these designs was understandably a difficult process, one that took years longer than it would have from another, less-accomplished sculptor.

The Coinage of Augustus Saint-Gaudens is an issue-by-issue examination of these two artistically inspired series of gold coins. Each date and mintmark is reviewed with up-to-date information, much of which has never been previously published. The book is based on the extraordinary collection of Phillip H. Morse. When Morse’s collection was sold in November 2005 it brought $19.2 million with many records broken for both rare and common coins.

Full color throughout, 253 pages.

“The Morse collection book is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful collection of the nation’s finest coins. Saint-Gaudens died before his masterpiece could be distributed to the public, but this book is solid proof that his creations are rightfully cherished and will be for generations to come.”
Take a close look. You may be holding an oddity that the U.S. Mint did not want you to find. Yet millions of them have found their way into general circulation. Many are worth hundreds of dollars. Experts call these anomalies “die varieties.”

Looking Through Lincoln Cents aims to keep the collector informed of the many recent developments in collecting Lincoln cents with special emphasis placed on die varieties. This book features hundreds of detailed photographs designed to aid the collector in finding, detecting, grading and eventually valuing Lincoln cent varieties. The author also points out a number of minor varieties that are often mistaken for rare varieties, or are simply too common to be considered collectible.

Looking Through Lincoln Cents does not just address die varieties, but all aspects of the Lincoln cent series required for a serious overview of the Lincoln cent series. For new and experienced collectors alike, this valuable reference will vastly expand your understanding of the Lincoln cent series and the many valuable die varieties found within it.
