The February 2007 Brisbane sale of Roxbury’s Auction House saw an intriguing item of Aussie paper passed in. I was a bit surprised and can only conclude that the reserve had been set too high or that the market hasn’t become fully aware of the significance and rarity of such an item. Yet, for any dedicated collector of Australian notes, this item would seem to be a must. The note was regular issue Coombs/Wilson £5, Standard Catalog of World Paper Money No. P-31, except that it bore the serial number 1000000.
