PCGS Founder John Dannreuther Named “Numismatist of the Year” by American Numismatic Association
John W. Dannreuther is the recipient of the American Numismatic Association’s 2007 Numismatist of the Year Award. He will be presented the award Aug. 10 at a membership reception in his honor during the World’s Fair of Money(r) in Milwaukee, Wis. Dannreuther learned the business of numismatics from his coin-dealer father, Victor. After graduating from the University of Mississippi with degrees in Chemistry and English, Dannreuther worked as a rock ‘n’ roll guitarist in Memphis, Tenn. Realizing his love of numismatics and his need for a more stable income, he went back into the coin business, becoming a full-time dealer in 1973.
