Collecting Morgan silver dollars by date and mintmark seemed a daunting task when I began it as a young collector over 40 years ago. The face value of the set came to over $100. Yet, the coin was beautiful, impressive and had a 90 percent silver content. I am still working on it.

The item, which has been released by Pobjoy Mint on behalf of the Isle of Man Treasury, features a design inspired by decorations found inside the tomb of the pharaoh, Numismaster.com reports

Key-date values soften

Values for many key-date coins have softened a little as a result of tight money and slimmer margins for dealers. For example, the 1877 Indian Head cent has fallen in value by $200 to $300 in the grades of Fine through Extremely Fine. The 1912-S Liberty Head 5-cent coin has also pulled back, by $50 to $100 in the same grades.
