Collector Coin Market Stays Strong

Harvey Stack calls it collector pride. That’s why the coin market today remains strong, despite the financial chaos on Wall Street. “A collector is one who has great pride in his assemblage,” said Stack, co-chairman of the auction house Stack’s. “The motivation for collectors is why we have a different situation market wise.” At Heritage Auctions, co-chairman Steve Ivy said he can’t remember a time when he’s seen as many new and active buyers.

Adna Wilde Receives Inaugural Adna G. Wilde Jr. Award for Excellence

American Numismatic Association Past President Adna Wilde received the inaugural Adna G. Wilde Jr. Award for Excellence in Colorado Springs on Oct. 15. German states’ coins continue after empire begins

Thomas Searfoss of Florida decided to check his 2007 set and found a Philadelphia-minted George Washington dollar with the edge inscription virtually missing.
