Treasure hunters set to coin it with Roman haul

As the credit crunch hits pensioners across the country one pair have hit the jackpot by finding buried treasure. The finders of a hoard of thousands of Roman coins agree with the words inscribed on them; ‘happy times are here again’. The collection of bronze coins, which may be worth hundreds of thousands in sterling, were discovered in a field north of Newport Pagnell and have now been declared as treasure.

Coins sell as stocks fall

Robert G. Duncan of Southampton has been selling coins for more than 20 years, and the current financial crisis isn’t hurting his business. “I’ve seen pretty steady sales,” Duncan said Sunday at the West Springfield Coin Club’s Coin Show, held at the Dante Club on Memorial Avenue. Duncan said that even while some people have pulled out of the stock market and are hesitant to purchase bonds due to crisis, many are still purchasing coins.
