A very interesting article and series of articles. But the last paragraph is most disturbing to me - "5% of certified coins sent to CAC have been doctored" raises the hair on the back of my neck! I would think an in-depth article on identifying the tell-tale signs of a doctored coin would be very helpful. The typical "doctoring", such as thumbing, whizzing, and over-dipping, are fairly easy to detect and I'm sure this is not the form of doctoring Mr Albanese was describing. I would like very much to hear exactly what form of doctoring Mr. Albanese was referring to, myself, and I'm fairly certain others would, too.
Again, thank you for the timely article!
