Re: MM

The spread and immediate loss on your investment in connection to the IRS is null. Because your investment is completely tax sheltered, capitals gains/losses play no role within the IRA until you take a distribution of the assets/cash later. That is the beauty of tax-advantaged investing with a Self Directed IRA.

Thanks!

Thanks for the article and the tip on Entrust. What the article didn't cover was how the spread is factored into the IRA. When you have to cover this spread in your gold IRA you have an immediate loss on your investment. How is this cost treated by the IRS?

Bryan:

Thanks for your comment, however your characterization that the article is nothing more than an advertisement for Entrust is just plain wrong.

We have no financial interest with respect to Entrust or any of the other companies, services and/or coins we report on. CoinLink does not buy or sell coins and Entrust is Not an advertiser or sponsor on the site.

You are correct that there are pluses and minuses with all custodians and that all investors need to exercise due diligence in researching potential investments (a point we made in the article). However we fail to see how you came to the conclusion that the article was not written to be helpful to persons considering a precious metals IRA. We discuss a number of topics, all of which would be of interest to anyone not familiar with the subject or structure of self directed IRA's. Most of the topics that have nothing to do with Entrust, such as storage options that even many existing IRA holders are not be aware of. Does that make the article an advertisement for the depositories as well?

Whenever a company is named in an article, some people, such as yourself, could conclude that it constitutes free advertising for the company mentioned.

I assure you that the intent of the article was to inform, however if you think that we were unfair in our presentation, incorrect in our facts, or omitted material information, please correct us with specifics and we will be happy to include your comments.

The article is an advertisement for Entrust and not an article that was written to be helpful to investors.

There are multiple custodians that do precious metal IRAs (Goldstar, Sterling, Self Directed IRA Services, Entrust) and I would recommend that each client/bullion dealer do their own research and due diligence before opening their account. Each custodian has its own advantages and disadvantages.
