Northwest Territorial Mint Acquires Historic Medallic Art Company
Northwest Territorial Mint, the world’s largest private mint, has acquired the historic Medallic Art Company. As the industry leader for minting high-quality commemoratives for the military and Fortune 500 companies, as well as a reputable precious metals dealer, Northwest Territorial Mint was able to strategically expand its capabilities with the acquisition and increase its value to customers looking for minted products of the highest quality and craftsmanship.
Northwest Territorial Mint will move into Medallic Art’s Dayton, Nevada headquarters and assume stewardship of its inventory, archives and 118,000-square-foot, state-of-the art minting facilities.
Northwest Territorial Mint CEO Ross Hansen is excited to add the artistry and skill of Medallic Art to the Northwest Territorial Mint family, which includes operations in Auburn, WA, Green Bay, WA Springfield, VA and The Pentagon.
“This is a truly a case of the sum being greater than its parts. Combining the knowledge and prestige of Medallic Art with Northwest Territorial Mint’s proven minting expertise will allow us to be the clear choice for customers looking for world-class minted products.” Hansen said.
The work of Medallic Art is legendary in the minting industry. The 106-year old company is responsible for reproducing bas-relief masterpieces by American masters of sculpting as well as producing prestigious medals such as the Pulitzer Prize, Congressional Medal of Honor, and inaugural medals for numerous U.S. presidents.
Hansen said, “I was impressed with the pro-business climate of the state of Nevada and the willingness of Nevada’s elected officials to work with us to bring our business and jobs to the state.”
The Medallic Art Company facility will enable Northwest Territorial Mint to expand its operations, and to make Dayton its corporate headquarters later this year. “We believe we have a bright future in the state of Nevada and are look forward to hiring locally, building partnerships and bringing business to the state. We owe thanks to the help we received from the state’s political leaders, such as Gov. Jim Gibbons, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, State Sen. Mark Amodei and Assembly members Tom Grady, Bonnie Parnell and James Settelmeyer, as well as Rob Hooper from the Northern Nevada Development Authority,” stated Hansen.
Up to 100 employees from the firm’s current headquarters, in Auburn, Washington, will make the move in order to centralize production. The company will also make 75-150 local hires after a transitional period, probably beginning in September.
