British-Spanish relations tough over treasure fight
Relations between Spain and Britain have recently been under strain with the recent interception of a US treasure-hunting vessel off Gibraltar. Britain has accused Spain of treating international waters near the British enclave as its own, Spanish media reported on July 13. Spanish police and navy intercepted on July 12 the MS Ocean Alert, a ship belonging to the US shipwreck recovery company Odyssey Marine Exploration, which Madrid suspects of stealing a treasure of silver coins from a Spanish wreck.
