Gold, silver coins mark Queen’s diamond anniversary in big way
The Royal Canadian Mint is issuing gold and silver versions of a coin commemorating the upcoming diamond anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
Although the coins are being issued this spring, the actual anniversary is later in the year. Then-Princess Elizabeth married Lt. Philip Mountbatten at London’s Westminster Abbey on Nov. 20, 1947.
Both coins have the same reverse design, by Steve Hepburn. The coins have the coat of arms of the Queen, above the coat of arms of Prince Philip.
