I will have to give my e-mail address for a response since I have never been here before and don't really expect to again except for any other question that might come up. gmweber@q.com

The question I have came from a book "The Making of America" by W. Cleon Skousen in which on page 615 there is a quote of Thomas Jefferson concerning juries judging the law as well as the facts of a case. "But the common sense of twelve honest men gives still a better chance of just decision, than the hazard of cross and pile." I looked it up and "cross and pile" refers to flipping a coin where the cross side or the pile side is face up. Spanish money aparently was often used in the colonies at that time and I see the cross side but I wonder about the "pile" side. I see something with 5 hills but that would be too late as this was written sometime after the Constitution was put forth and approved by the people to be the law of the land.
Is there another spanish coin that he could be writing about? Thank you.

Congratulations for this information about these coins, I was shocked by the beauty and value of Guatemala coin of 8 escudos, it would be great to read more about that region, details, etc. etc. Good job!

Greg certainly exhibited a wonderfully abundant enthusiasm for the superlative collection offered by the Goldbergs under the name Millennia. I applaud his descriptions, passion, compassion for those who could not buy anything due to the price levels, understanding of the peculiar dynamics that occurred in the auction room, et. al. It was a privilege to participate in the sale, even when only with ones' "eyes wide open" while trying to ignore the racing heartbeats. The collector/ dealer who assembled the primary Latin American portion certainly had an impeccable "eye" plus unlimited worldwide resources for several decades.

Dear Greg; I have read many stories on Auctions and I must commend you on your story and interesting facts. It is without a doubt the best series ever written about a auction I have ever read in over 50 years in the coin business. Your facts and research was excellent. Your stories were interesting. After reading the 3 parts and wanted to read more about the sale. Wonderful job about the sale. Sincerly Larry Goldberg
