Impressive Start to PCGS World Series of Coin TradingTM

(Newport Beach, CA) - One of the collectors participating in the PCGS World Series of Coin TradingTM posted an impressive 30 percent profit in his fantasy $1 million rare coin portfolio in the first two weeks of competition. The increase is nearly double that of the top professional dealer in the contest.

Names of the participants and contents of their portfolios have not yet been publicly revealed.
The contest began March 1, 2006 and is still open to collectors and dealers who are competing for a top prize of $10,000 each in the Collectors and Professional divisions, and $1,000 each in quarterly prizes. The contest ends December 31, 2006.

"The contest started with over 300 collectors and about 20 dealers. In only the first two weeks one collector already had a 30 percent gain in his portfolio, and five collectors had 10 to 17 percent or higher increases in value. The biggest gain in a dealer's portfolio in that same time period was 17 percent, and three other dealers had 10 to 11 percent increases," said David Hall, President of Collectors Universe, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLCT) and a founder of Professional Coin Grading Service.

The PCGS World Series of Coin Trading is one of the activities celebrating the company's 20th anniversary.

"The values of coins in the competitors' imaginary portfolios are based on the PCGS Online Price Guide and coin availability is based on the PCGS Population Report. Contestants can 'buy' any coin for their portfolios, up to the portfolio size of $1,000,000, as long as the coin is listed in the PCGS Online Price Guide, and does not exceed the number of 'available' coins listed in the current PCGS Population Report," explained Ron Guth, PCGS President.

The Collector and Professional divisions' contestants whose coin portfolios increase the most by December 31, 2006 will each receive $10,000. There are also $1,000 quarterly prizes awarded in both divisions to each trader whose portfolio goes up the most in each of the three quarters ending June 30, September 30, and December 31.

The contest is open to all PCGS Authorized Dealers and all members of the PCGS Collectors Club. Compete rules are posted online at www.PCGS.com.
