Eva Adams, US Mint director during the debasing of US silver coinage in the mid-1960s should also be profiled in your mint director biographies section. She had to increase production of non-silver and clad coins because the US dollar had been so devalued that the national silver coinage was worth more than face value. It was being hoarded because the nationalized banks could not exchange coins for their fair value in US paper bills.
Ms. Adams was raised in the mining camps of Nevada, had high intelligence and an admirable work ethic. She was a diplomatic problem solver.
