Universal Calls Lawsuit, “Utterly Ridiculous”
Universal Coin & Bullion - Press Release - 02-22-2007

Beaumont, TX – Universal Coin & Bullion of Beaumont, Texas has responded to a lawsuit filed against it.

“The allegations in the lawsuit are utterly ridiculous and filled with errors of fact. We’ve been in business over 17 years with literally tens of thousands of satisfied customers, and we intend to vigorously fight this malicious and grossly overvalued lawsuit.” said Michael Fuljenz, President of Universal Coin & Bullion (UCB).

“Our companies are the victims of predatory and retaliatory litigation by two former employees who are being investigated for misuse of confidential client information. One of those former employees was fired by us in February 2006. The law firm that filed this suit is looking for new sources of revenue because their earlier lawsuits against the asbestos industry are ending.”

“UCB denies the nonsense allegations in the lawsuit.”

  • UCB and the other companies are not aware of any customers named in this suit that have called or communicated any unresolved complaints to management prior to filing the lawsuit.
  • UCB and the other companies extend a ten-day, no obligation return policy, and our companies have successfully resolved the few complaints received over the last 17 years.

  • Several of the people named as plaintiffs have not purchased coins from any of our companies in six years or more.

  • We do not target elderly potential customers. We advertise in multiple venues including many national publications covering an extremely diverse demographic.

  • We do not make “cold calls” to solicit business. Potential customers respond to direct response advertising and must first contact us to purchase coins.

  • We take active steps to comply with any “no call” request, and we do not use high pressure sales tactics.

  • We have no credit card processing issues. We do not “slam” credit cards or risk jeopardizing our relationships with customers and credit card processors.

  • We have no issues with the Federal Trade Commission or any state Attorney General’s office.

  • UCB and the other companies have assisted consumers in dispute resolutions with the Better Business Bureau as well as the Professional Numismatists Guild.

UCB and the other companies have been in business for almost two decades; they have over 100,000 satisfied customers and have won numerous industry awards. We’ve been located in Beaumont, Texas for over a decade, are members of the Better Business Bureau and follow their guidelines on quickly resolving any disputes.
